The Rev. Don Judson
Assisting Priest
The Rev. Don Judson began serving at Church of Our Saviour as our Assisting Priest in January, 2004. Don originally comes from New Jersey, attended the Episcopal seminary in Cambridge, MA, then served a parish in northern Ohio and a college campus in Southern Ohio before coming to Chicago for graduate study in divinity and social service at the University of Chicago. He met Jean, who worked as a librarian at the university and they celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary last summer (2003). For over twenty years Don worked with two different public agencies, one which provided companions to senior citizens and the other which advocated rights for mental patients. He retired in 2000. From 1984-2002, he also served as a "volunteer" assisting priest at Christ Church in River Forest.
Jean and Don moved from Oak Park to Wheaton in the spring of 2003. While searching for a new parish they came to Church of Our Saviour and felt drawn to this community. Jean has lent her lovely voice to our choir. Don leads the Wednesday night Bible study and serves on the outreach committee. Don is a board member for the DuPage Senior Citizens Council and he volunteers with the Illinois Guardianship and Advocacy Commission. On Tuesdays, he can be found driving all around Hanover Park delivering hot meals to seniors in the area. He has two adult sons, one in Florida and one in Minnesota, and one grandson. He is an avid reader and enjoys writing articles for church periodicals and tinkering with household repairs. |
